My Favorite Culture Shock Videos
Alex and Liam Do Walmart
This video had me from the moment of the awesome Walmart sign effect that they use in the beginning. The best part is when Alex says “They should just build a Walmart in every town” and Liam responds “That’s what they want!”.

First taste of sugar – Dances with Wolves
One of my all-time favorite movies features a scene in which Kevin Costner gives sugar to Native Americans and then watches them taste it for the first time. Fictional, but still great.

This one is more of a generational culture shock, but it is simply awesome.

Galaxy Quest cast needs to explain fiction to aliens
Galaxy Quest is one of the most underrated comedies of all-time. I’ve seen it more times than I’d like to admit, and the culture shock the aliens in this movie experience when learning the truth about Earth is something we can all learn from. The plot of the movie is simple: Aliens from another planet have been receiving television signals from Earth, and they think every show is a documentary of real life. When their civilization is compromised by another alien force, they come to Earth to ask the crew of a science fiction show for help.
