The Hoi An Food Court Paradox
Eating street food is a way of life for most Vietnamese, and we travelers love to join in, trying exotic dishes fried up by the best chefs around. On the bustling An Hoi island near Hoi An Old Town, a strip of vendors under a permanent roof boast the best local specialties at low prices (and with English menus of course).
But how do we find the best? The 20 or so vendors here have all discovered our secret. Now they are capitalizing on our lack of free thinking ability with these clever signs:
What luck! They are all recommended by TripAdvisor (and many say #1 on at least one sign). And if that comforting logo doesn’t reel you in, the vendors not currently cooking will let you know they are the best, in a game of who can get the menu in the customers hands first:
The truth is, we’ve liked every stall we’ve tried. This food court is our daily lunch stop, and all of the ladies who work here greet us with a smile and serve wonderful meals.
