A resort vacation is a particular kind of vacation that differs from other getaways. It requires more planning and involves less spontaneity. A resort vacation is all about the facilities more than the overall location. You cannot have a good resort location unless you have a good resort.

So for a resort vacation, you have to reach higher than the typical hotel vacationers tend to settle. For example, folks planning a getaway to Hilton Head Island would consider the luxury Sea Pines Rentals in the list of options because the rental is a major part of the vacation.

If you want golf courses, you need to go where the golf courses are. If you are more of a white sands beach person, be sure white sandy beaches are a part of your resort. There are resorts that offer a variety of environments. The thing to remember is that when taking a resort vacation, you will probably not be adventuring very far from the resort. So make sure it has everything you need for a good time. Here are a few other tips to bear in mind:

Romance

You can find romance anywhere. You can even embark on radical romantic road trips. But when couples really want to focus on romance, they take a resort vacation. There is nothing inherently romantic about a resort vacation. What a resort provides is the opportunity for romance to flourish.

The resort can provide the private hot tub. You have to bring the passion. The resort can provide walkable beaches, views of a starry night’s sky, and live violin music. But you have to bring the long walks. You have to put work on do not disturb. You have to be willing to unplug and slow down and focus on your relationship.

A resort vacation will not magically repair a relationship. But it does provide all the ingredients for two people in love to reconnect. So if your relationship is low on romance, save the camping trip for another time. And enjoy a resort vacation.

Unwind

While there is much to do at a good resort, it is not necessarily focused on a new activity every few minutes. It is not about doing a lot of physical exercise and having a number of hair-raising adventures. Resort vacations are about sitting back and relaxing in a nice place and letting the environment wash over you.

Playing golf is less about physical exertion and more about the gamification of enjoying nature. That is not to say that golf is not a physical activity. It is just that physical activity is not the point. Swimming in the ocean and running on the beach are also physical activities. But again, physical activity is not the point.

One of the main points of a great resort vacation is to unplug, unwind, and relax. It is not supposed to be one of those actions that leave you drained and in need of a vacation. It is supposed to be a vacation that slows things down and gives you a chance to rest and live a completely stress-free life for a few days. Sometimes you can get the most out of a vacation by doing less.

Indulge

Resort vacations are not about diets or moderation or anything resembling humility. It is your time to be the queen or king of your secret fantasies. You don’t do your own laundry. You don’t cook your own food. You don’t even open your own door if that is an option. You are there to be served and even pampered.

Of course you would like a massage. Absolutely you want some extra shaved truffle. Certainly you would like more wine. It is not as if you are driving anywhere. You are on vacation. Let the horse do all the work.

Some people have a difficult time letting go and indulging. But that is exactly what a resort vacation is for. To plan such a vacation, you need to focus on the location, bring the romance, learn to unwind. And dare to indulge. Your flight is first-class. And forget about the rental car. It is taxis and pedicabs for you for the next two weeks.
