Three Top Tips for Partying Abroad
When we go abroad, many of us want to experience the local nightlife. The constant, upbeat music, cocktails on tap, heat, and freedom are the perfect tonic for letting your hair down.
But you’ll soon find that not every country likes to party in the same way. Different cultures and customs offer a little spice, and variety is the order of the day.
From taxis to drinking, bars to brasseries, here’s how to have fun wherever you are in the world.
Tip One: Do Some Research before You Fly
The best way to make sure that you get the nightlife you’re looking for is to do your research before booking. Ibiza, for example, is one of the party capitals of the world, so you know that when you fly out, you’re guaranteed a good time. Other locations can be a little trickier. The Greek Islands, for example, offer a variety of destinations and party cultures, from the tame to the wild. Sometimes, these can be only a few miles apart, so be careful that you don’t book a trip to Stalis if you want the full on Malia experience.
Tip Two: Prices
Another useful tip is to make sure that you know how much to take out with you. The price of drinks can vary wildly around the globe, so make sure that you’re not leaving home with €20 when a good night is going to cost you €50. Tickets for many clubs and party nights are cheaper when pre-booked, so factor this into your planning process. Consider, too, whether you’re going to need a taxi home, and if so, factor this into your budget.
Tip Three: Transport
Most holiday locations are central, making it easy for tourists to walk from A to B free of charge. However, some cities tend to be more spread out, and you’ll find that you need to commute. Trying to navigate your way back home once you have a bellyful of alcohol isn’t the easiest task, so be sure to map out your return route before you leave your hotel. If public transport is available, remember to see what time it stops running. You’ll also find that in some places, like Paris, taxis will need to be booked around 24 hours in advance, meaning that last minute preparations can cause something of a problem.
Now all that’s left to do is step on a plane, dance the nights away, and have a roaring good time. Be sure to have an extra drink on me!
