How to Make Your Long Haul Flight a Little More Comfortable
Long haul flights are notorious for being an uncomfortable experience, so it’s always good to do a little planning beforehand to try and make them as easy and comfortable as you can.
Here are just a few ways that you can reduce discomfort on your next long haul flight.
Reduce digital eyestrain from your devices
As with most activities that involve a lot of sitting around, we often end up staring at smartphones and tablets for long periods of time to help pass the time.
The problem is that our device emit blue light which can play havoc with our brains, making them think that it is daytime when actually it isn’t. To boot, you will often also feel a lot more tired after looking at your device for a prolonged period of time.
Blue light blocking glasses from Eye Buy Direct help to reduce digital eyestrain which is caused by smartphones and tablets, and are perfect for long haul flights where you are likely to be spending a lot of time looking at a screen.
Dress comfortably
The clothes that you wear for your flight has a direct impact on your comfort levels, so make sure that you choose the right garments to suit the duration of your flight.
Ditch the denim and opt for comfortable and loose trousers, as this will enable you to get comfortable in your seat. For your top half, don’t choose anything too tight, and rather opt for loose cotton garments that are breathable.
The temperature on an airplane can fluctuate a lot over the course of a flight, so make sure you’ve packed socks and an extra layer to slip on when it gets a little colder. You will also want shoes that you can take on and off easily, as you don’t want to spend the full duration of the flight with them on.
Pack earplugs, headphones or both!
Crying babies and chatterbox neighbors are suddenly a lot more irksome when you’re on a plane! Keep your stress levels low by packing headphones and earplugs to give yourself some much needed quiet time.
Make sure you have these packed in your hand luggage before you get on the flight, as they will come at quite a premium if you need to buy them at the airport or whilst onboard the plane – plus they won’t be as comfortable than your normal ones!
Listen to relaxing music
Give the screen a rest for a little while and instead plug yourself into some nice calming tracks. High tempo music is likely to have exactly the opposite effect and instead raise your heart rate, so before you go spend a little time adding some tranquil music to your phone or music device.
If you are going to go for higher tempo pump-up music, then save that for the last portion of the flight, or alternatively select some music which correlates to the place that you are flying to!
