Without a doubt, holidays are wonderful time. It gives us the chance to travel and meet new people, go on a trip with our families, and hang out with friends. In other words, live life to the full until we dive into our work again. Indeed, the rhythm of life is much faster today, so having some time to just stop and enjoy it is worth much.

For most of us, travelling with family is one of such sweets of life. Until it comes to driving long distances in a car together. Such a situation can either turn to a pleasant journey where time passes quickly or become deadly dull. Of course, one might say that you can turn on your favorite thriller audiobook or just listen to news on the radio. This plan may work, unless you are travelling with your kids who are not interested in political debates, economics, etc. This is where your creativity will be useful.

Sweets are never too much

The main idea here is to take enough snacks for your journey. Some of us, especially kids, like to eat something to pass the time. So in some way, sweets and other sorts of snacks help us stop feeling bored. If you are a supporter of healthy food, you can take fruits, veggies, fresh juices, and home-made cookies. Don’t be afraid to take with the reserve, with children there can’t be too much snacks. Besides, some parents don’t give everything at once. They dose treats giving little by little and at the exact time thus helping kids relieve boredom and enhance discipline.

Have a rich assortment of games

Since you know your kids’ interests better than anyone, you can take their favorite games, books, puzzles, drawing sets, etc. which is a very good idea. More likely than not having a wide range of options between entertainments, children won’t have time to get bored. Plus, while drawing a picture of your journey or solving new puzzles, they won’t distract you from the road often.

Hold a contest

Regardless of their age, all children like contests. And here, you have plenty of options. You can offer them to become paparazzi and take photos of birds, animals, and nature while driving. You can also play some road trip games. Depending of your children’s age games may differ. Play “I spy” game, when you need to pick any object within your eyeshot and give a clue (color, type) so that the other player guess it. “Fortunately/Unfortunately” is also a very funny game, when one person says something fortunate beginning the sentence with “Fortunately”, the next person says something unfortunate about this situation and so on. Frankly speaking, there are so many interesting car games for all tastes, so you can always find something interesting to play.

Comfortable trip is a stress-less trip

Many parents say that it is better not to overfill a car inside. Give your kids the chance to change their position as often as they need to since sitting straight for several hours can be exhausting even for adults. What to expect from active kids?

Don’t deny yourself in comfort either. Ideally, to reduce discomfort to the minimum, wear convenient clothes that don’t hinder movements, adjust temperature to the comfortable level, and make stops from time to time to flex muscles. If you are travelling with your partner, share the wheel every few hours to relax and distract from the road. You can also turn your massage chair for car on if you have one, it may help you relax and relieve stress a little.

Stop only when it is necessary

Of course, stops during long car trips are inevitable, especially when you drive for very long hours. However, making them too frequent may prolong your journey appreciably. To prevent this and get to your destination point quicker, try to make stops only when they are really needed. A trip can be exciting and fun, it just need a bit of preparation.
