The USA is the ideal place for adventure holidays for singles, with so much to see and do in an environment that feels familiar yet fresh. You’ve got the national parks of the Midwest, the music and heritage of the Deep South, the beaches of Florida, the great cities of California and the excitement of New York all to be savoured within the contiguous USA.

With so much choice among those central 48 states, it’s easy to forget about ‘The Last Frontier’ in the far north-west of North America, Alaska. However, while it might not be the most accessible or well-known place in the USA, it’s by far one of the most rewarding states to visit with TrekAmerica.

If you’re still not convinced it’s one of the best destinations in North America to visit on a group tour, here are five reasons to change your mind:

1. Alaska is uncrowded

With America boasting a population of close to 314 million people, it’s hard to truly get away from it all in the contiguous USA. However, you face no such difficulties in Alaska, where a population density of 1.26 per square mile makes it the least populated of the 50 states. Compare this to New Jersey, which has a population density of 1,205 per square mile, and you get a real sense of how easy it is to escape the crowds in Alaska.

In fact, there are 200,000 more caribou in Alaska than humans, along with tens of thousands of bears, so you’re far more likely to encounter something walking on four legs as opposed to two.

2. Alaska is full of amazing wildlife

Speaking of wildlife, the incredible fauna on show is another compelling reason to visit the 49th state.

As well as caribou and brown, black and polar bears, Alaska is home to some of the most spectacular mammals, birds and reptiles on earth including moose, mountain goats, bison, dall sheep, orcas, bald eagles, snowy owls, humpback whales and leatherback turtles.

3. Alaska’s scenery is stunning

When you head out in search of these animals, you’ll find yourself wandering through some of the most wild terrain on earth, from rugged coastlines to towering snow-capped peaks and endless stretches of tundra.

North America’s tallest peak, Denali, is found in the park of the same name. At 20,000ft tall, Mount McKinley, as it is also known, dominates the landscape for miles around – it’s quite a sight to behold.

4. Alaska is action-packed

A visit to Alaska isn’t just about standing around gawking at your surroundings, however. It’s also the ideal place for active souls to unleash some pent up energy white water rafting, trekking, kayaking, mountain biking and much more.

If you’ve got a thirst for adventure and action, you’ll most certainly be able to quench it in Alaska.

5. Alaska is like nowhere else in the USA

In the contiguous USA, you can travel from one state to the next and not really notice you’ve crossed the border. However, you’ll definitely be aware that you’re in Alaska as soon as you set foot in the 49th state.

From the climate to the scenery, the wonderful wildlife to the lack of humans, Alaska is like nowhere else in the USA. It’s not called ‘The Last Frontier’ for nothing.
