There will be many exciting City Festivals in 2013. They occur throughout the country and the world, so there should be some that you can make arrangements to attend. The entertainment is quite varied and will thus appeal to the many tastes of family members of all ages.

Lollapalooza will take place in Chicago’s Grant Park on August 2nd through 4th featuring heavy metal, punk rock and popular alternative rock music acts as well as comedy performances, hip hop bands and craft booths. This annual festival attracts over 160,000 people and is responsible for the popularity of numerous artists including Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Mumford & Sons, The Cure, Of Monsters and Men, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins and many more. Lollapalooza began debuting overseas in Chile’s Santiago on April 2nd and 3rd, 2011.

The Austin City Limits Music Festival will be held at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, on the two weekends of October 4th through 6th and 11th through 13th. Approximately 150 bands will perform on eight stages and represent country, bluegrass, hip-hop, folk, indie, Americana, reggae and rock.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sonar in Barcelona, so it will be bigger than ever. This popular electronic and dance festival, the International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art, will occur on June 13th through June 15th and will feature such acts as Kraftwek, Skrillex, Soulwax, Pet Shop Boys and Major Lazer. Sonar runs for three days and nights in the third week of June, usually starting on a Thursday.

Soundwave Croatia is one of the best and biggest summer parties in Europe and will be in Tisno on the beautiful Dalmatian Coast just 20 minutes from Zadar. This is considered a fine boutique festival and will occur on July 18th through the 22nd and feature Bonobo, DJ Shadow and DJ Yoda. The festival includes boat and beach parties that start a few days ahead of the performances.

Bilbao BBK Live is an annual pop and rock music festival in Bilbao, Spain, that is scheduled in 2013 for July 11th through July 13th. Held in a complex on the slopes of Mount Cobetas built especially for the event, this festival was nominated in 2010 and 2011 for “Best Foreign Festival” at the UK Festival Awards and for “Best Medium-Sized European Festival” in 2009,2010 and 2011 at the European Festivals Awards.

Wireless is set to be the major music event of 2013 in London at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford from July 12th through July 14th. Some of the biggest names in entertainment will be there including Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Snoop Dog, John Legend, Frank Ocean, Miguel, Kesha and many more.
