One of the most distinct and richest parts of the world, California is located on the Western Coast of the US. California is a great state for nature lovers. From fascinating deserts, picturesque mountains, to beautiful beaches, it makes for an ideal place to go fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or camping.

In fact, camping is a nice way to bond with your friends and families that may not seem possible otherwise. Only a two-day trip in the fresh air, under the starry night and away from the city is all it takes to get away from the boring routine.

California has some amazing camping spots. With a number of national parks in the Northern, Central and Southern part of California, the options are endless.

#1-BIG BEAR LAKE

Located in Southern California, Big Bear Lake sits right in the middle of San Bernardino National Forest. In the winter, this place is a hot-spot for the skiers. However, come summer and this place turns into a nature lover’s wonderland. This place gives you an option of bringing your own RV, renting a cabin or then pitching your tent. There are a number of activities that you can indulge in while you’re here.  From kayaking, horseback riding to fishing or mountain biking; the choice is yours.

#2- BIG BASIN REDWOODS STATE PARK

Although, it is one of the oldest state parks in the state, you cannot ignore the 18,000 acres of lush redwood forest it offers, making it a perfect spot for camping. There are about 146 campsites spread across four campgrounds. Each campground features drinking water, shower and restrooms, and each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. However, not all campsites allow RV, only tents are permissible.

#3-YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

I stumbled on a post highlighting the natural wonders of America, and included on that list was, of course, Yosemite National Park.  A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Yosemite National Park is located in east-central California among the Sierra Nevada Mountains. A very popular camping site, it fills up rather quickly during the summers. So, making reservations in advance would be the best way to go. All the campgrounds offer tap water, flush toilets, food storage containers that are bear-safe, and tap water.

#4- LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST

Located in southern and central California, Los Padres National Forest has 11 campgrounds. They range from being very rugged to suitable for RVs. Each of the campsites is well maintained and has a fire ring and a picnic table. Sinks and restrooms are scattered all over the campgrounds. Plenty of activities like horseback riding, fishing, and mountain biking will keep you busy.

#5-D.L. BLISS STATE PARK

Located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, D. L. Bliss State Park offers campers the most amazing camping experience. With well-maintained campgrounds complete with hot showers and spacious sites, this state park is highly recommended for families. You can go swimming at the Lester Beach cove or hike to the Balancing Rock.
