Festival Packing: How to Keep it Light

With the British weather always making the summer a bit of a tricky one to predict, many people are travelling abroad for festivals.

But no matter what you’re doing abroad you still have to deal with luggage and the airport; oh and getting there. If you’re lucky enough to get a lift to the airport then great; but if you have to park your car whilst away you want somewhere secure and cheap. Jetparks (which you can view here) are a great option as they’re low in cost and close to the airport, as well as having great security.

Baggage

However after the travelling there and checking in at the airport, you then have to deal with your luggage at the other end. If you’re carrying your luggage to a festival, you have to make sure it’s manageable; which is why we’re giving you some tips, so you don’t break your back whilst travelling.

Restrict yourself

Firstly limit yourself to one piece of luggage; maybe a travel backpack. Because getting seven bags to the airport in a car, then onto the plane is a breeze, but carrying them around whilst looking for a place to camp is anything but fun. Also by limiting baggage you won’t over pack, which is a typical Brits abroad problem.

Clothing

So now you have a limited amount of space, you have to limit your clothes. Firstly you’re going for a few days not months; so packing your entire wardrobe is pointless. Secondly as you live in Britain chances are most of your wardrobe is filled with jumpers and jackets, which you won’t need at a festival like Benicassim for example. So buy some nice summer clothes but not too many, and remember when you pack them in your bag roll them don’t fold them; this way there’ll be more space and less creases.

Toiletries

Ok so you’ll need stuff like shampoo, deodorant and the likes; but don’t pack all the stuff from home, they’ll be too bulky and take up too much space. So buy cheap travel size stuff, this way you’ll have space left over and you can throw things away if you don’t want them. Also don’t forget suntan lotion, but buy a spray bottle because the cream will just turn into a watery white liquid in the sun; and putting that on is never a good look.
