We’ve enjoyed our time in Inle Lake, and have spent more time that we probably should have at our hotel, Golden Empress.  Its been nice to relax with the free wifi and free coffee and tea and just work and read, especially after our trek in Hsipaw.  The Golden Empress is a budget hotel, $25 for a double with bathroom, pretty reasonable for the rising prices of Inle Lake area.

The location was perfect for us, a quite road with lots of nearby restaurants, a five minute walk to main street, and a 15 minute walk to the canal.

DSCN0145The hotel has a rustic style, with nice hardwood floors and furniture.  The free breakfast includes eggs, pancakes, toast, generous servings of fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Our room on the first floor had large windows into the patio area, a comfortable king bed, a desk and wardrobe, and plenty of space to spread out our luggage.  The staff was helpful and spoke decent English.  We used laundry and bike rental services, both reasonable priced as well.

The hotel is not set-up for online booking on sites like Hotels.com or Agoda.com, in face they don’t even have a website.  To guarantee yourself a room by booking ahead, contact them via phone, email, or their Facebook page:
